What is Procedure Text?

Purpose:

To help us do a task or make something. They can be a set of instructions or directions.

Text Organization:

• Goal: (The final purpose of doing the instructions)

• Materials: (ingredients, utensils, equipment to do the instructions)

• Steps: (a set of instructions to achieve the final purpose)

Language Features :

• Use of imperatives

(e.g.: cut, don't mix)

• Use of action Verbs

(e.g. : turn, put, mix)

• Use of connectives

(e.g. : first, then, finally, ...)

• Use of adverbial phrases  

(e.g. : for five minutes, 2 centimeters from the top)

 How to turn on a computer

Press the ON/OFF buttons.
Make sure the computer is plugged in
Wait, read, and follow the instructions
Select the program to run on screen.
The buttons are on CPU and on monitor

How to charge a battery of a hand phone

First, connect the lead from the charger to the base of the phone
Second, connect the charger to AC wall outlet. The battery indicator bar starts scrolling
Third, when the battery is fully charged, the bar stops scrolling. Disconnect the charger from the AC outlet and the phone.

Herbed Mushrooms with Feta

Materials
1 lb mushroom, sliced
1 tbsp. each olive oil and butter
1/4cup Foxbrook Merlot
1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
1/2 tbsp. dried thyme

Steps:
1. In a large skillet cook mushrooms in oil and butter 5 minutes until slightly softened.
2. add wine, continue to cook until liquid has almost evaporated. Remove from heat, cool slightly.
3. Sprinkle mushrooms with feata and thyme. Season to taste with salt and pepper, and serve immediately.
